VLC iOS 2.0 Compile instruction

Postby garybb » 19 Jul 2013 13:54

hi,

thanks goes to all developers who spent their life-time for creating the new vlc 2.0 for iOS.

As a osx developer i would like to jump into the development and i tryied today to compile the new sources, currently without success. I followed the step by step instruction page on the wiki page (including grabbing the coffies).

http://wiki.videolan.org/iOSCompile

After git check our, i ran the buildAspenProject.sh -s for creating simulator and device packages.
The script goes thru without errors. I opened the VLC for iOS.xcodeproj with xcode, iam using xcode 4.6.2 on OSX Lion.

And try to build the project, it stops "#import <MobileVLCKit/MobileVLCKit.h>"

Ok, i know to ask google and i saw the new mobileVLCKit on the videolan page.

I grap it, but there is no instruction how to build the mobileVLC kit, btw the current name is "VLCKit-2.1.0-pre1".

I unpack the VLCKit.2.1.0-pre1, and there are two xcode project file. MobielVLCKit.xcodeproj as well VLCKit.xcodeproj inside.

I open the MobileVLCKit.xcodeproj and start again to compile this lib, 3 new errors.

Error1:
VLCKit-2.1.0-pre1/MobileVLCKit_Prefix.pch:9:9: 'vlc/vlc.h' file not found

Error2:
Ls: VLCKit-2.1.0-pre1/MobileVLCKit/../../vlc/install-ios-OS/armv7s/lib/vlc/plugins/lib*_plugin.a: No such file or directory

Error3:
ls: VLCKit-2.1.0-pre1/MobileVLCKit/../../vlc/install-ios-OS/armv7s/lib/vlc/plugins/lib*_plugin.a: No such file or directory
Command /bin/sh emitted errors but did not return a nonzero exit code to indicate failure

To Fix error1 i think i have to set the search path correctly but for error2 and 3 i dont know what "lib*_plugin.a" means.

Is the direction to build vlc like this:

First:
compile VLCMobileKit 2.1.0-pre1

Second:
compile MediaLibraryKit 2.0.0

Last:
set libraries from first and second and compile and build VLC for IOS 2.0.1.

Any help would be great...

Thanks
Gary

You did not run the script to the end: therefore you have not compile vlc or MediaLibraryKit and you have imports and link errors.

Repull the git and try again :)

And yes, I know it's hard.

Hi Jean-Baptiste Kempf

I am trying to use VLC for iOS 2.0 for my project. And I am following the link below to compile it. However, I faced some errors when I compile it.

http://wiki.videolan.org/iOSCompile

I got the source code, and did the first step (sh buildAspenProject.sh -s), but I failed at the second build. When I tried "sh buildAspenProject.sh".
I got the following errors:

** BUILD FAILED **
The following build commands failed:
Libtool build/Release-iphoneos/libMobileVLCKit.a normal armv7
(1 failure)

When I open verbose mode, it says I am missing a lot of .a files.
My system is Mac OS X 10.7.5, and Xcode is 4.6.2.
Do you know why this happened? Could you please help me on that.

Thank you so much.
