VLC plugin for Mountain Lion

The current version of the plugin is 1.0.5 and is described as being suitable "for 10.5 and later". However when I install it on my Mac running Mountain Lion (10.8.3) it does not work in either Firefox (v21.0) or Safari (v6.0.4). As an aside, checking with Get Info the plugin is identified as being 32 bit.

I have trawled through this forum and found a few references to the fact that the plugin no longer works, along with a suggestion that a new version based on VLC 2.0.5 or 2.0.6 would be released "later this Spring". Can anyone update me on what the latest status is for this?

The particular reason that I am keen to see a working version is that I am looking to purchase an IP Security Cam that uses the VLC plugin to display video. Without a functioning version of the plugin for Mountain Lion I will be forced to fire up an old PC to use it, which really grates!

We are not done with the plugin for OS X yet. I hope to spend more time on it this summer. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I will also be keeping an eye out on this forum. My foscam requires the vlc-plugin to play the audio.

Same here. Looking forward to it so I can use as a baby monitor.

Any updates regarding this plugin?

I hope that I don't come off as "rude", the VLC-devs are doing a very nice job!

Slowly, but yes.

However, nothing I can share publicly so far. I'll update this thread as soon as we have something to test for a broader audience!
