Connecting to Speakers via Airport Express

Postby kvasnam » 31 Jul 2005 05:54

Hi, Noticed that back on Feb 7, 2005, someone asked about connecting to speakers remotely (airport express), and VideoLAN's reply was that "no-one is currently working on this issue, since VLC is mostly developed and supported by students who don't have the money for buying such devices".

Just curious to see if anyone has changed their minds 6 months later, since wireless devices have significantly come down in price. Some radio stations use VLC to broadcast & it would be great to listen to them over my stereo, instead of via my computer speakers.

Appreciate any update.
Mac Tiger user.

Well i think no one really is looking at this atm. the developer staff is heavily undermanned and this really is a low priority thing because it likely requires quite some work, while everyone knows that as soon as this is a less interesting 'sellling point' for apple, every application will be able to use this functionality by default.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply DJ.You needn't supply the staff hours to enable my query. I did some internet searching & found a wonderful application that enables any media player to transmit to speakers hooked up via Airport, even VLC. So if any one is looking for this feature, please try Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba. You won't be disappointed! I wasn't. :D
