VLC & OSX sleep mode issue

Hi,

I recently noticed that OSX enters sleep mode even when VLC is playing music. I only recently switched from PC to MAC and was wondering if this is normal?
Is there anyway to let OSX know that VLC is in playback mode, so OSX doesn't enter sleep mode? It's a minor detail, but it is very annoying having to relaunch VLC playback every 15 mins...

Thanks...

This should not happen if you are using OS X 10.6 (or later) and the latest version of VLC.

Could you check both versions?

I'm having the same issue. VLC does not keep Mac from going to sleep when playing audio.
Mac OS X version: 10.8.3
VLC version: 2.0.6

Thanks.

This bug seems to still be an active issue. It happens for me with OSX 10.10.5 and VLC 2.2.3. This more recent thread provides additional details about the problem I'm experiencing:
