subtitles in more detail

Postby facius » 28 Jul 2005 10:39

Can anyone tell me two/three things:

1/ Can vlc handle more than one srt file ? So i have and .srt 'spanish' and an .srt 'french' but i only seem to get 'Track 1' as an option under 'Video'

2/ I have a movie in two .avi files, i have a single .srt file. When the second file plays the subtitles from the first file seem to replay during the second file ! How can i avoid this or how can i understand what happened ?

ps well done whoever made vlc automatically pick up the second file even though it was in a different folder. Are there rules on how this works ?

1/ VLC should be able to list several subtitle tracks (it does it for DVDs) but i don't know how it is handled for subtitle files.
from the source code :

Code: Select all

/** * We are not going to autodetect more subtitle files than this. */ #define MAX_SUBTITLE_FILES 128
... so i guess the answer is yes :)

2 and final question/ subtitle file autodetection rules are :
(these can be set in the prefs)
0 = no subtitles autodetected
1 = any subtitle file
2 = any subtitle file containing the movie name
3 = subtitle file matching the movie name with additional chars
4 = subtitle file matching the movie name exactly

You can also change the directory where the subtitle files are searched.

hope that helps ...
