VLC Player Mountain Lion Problem

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post, so hello to everyone!

OK, so I use VLC player to watch WMV videos on my Mac (the operating system is Mountain Lion, which I installed two weeks ago) . There are no issues with the sound or picture quality of the WMV videos in VLC.

However......

When I try to skip to a particular section of a video, the scroll bar jumps backwards to about twenty seconds before the section of video that I want to see. In other words, I could skip forward to 3:01, and it will jump back to 2:41, and so on.

Does anybody know why this could be happening, and what I can do to solve it?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am also having problems mostly with AVIs. My problem is that videos will play along with the audio, then both just stop but the timer (the thing that shows you how far into the video you are) keeps on going, until it hits a section of the video were everything starts up again for a few minutes then audio and video freeze again and the timer keeps on going

Mac OS X 10.8.3
VLC 2.0.6
