mutex lock failed?!

Here is my most recent error message in VLC:

No Idea What This Means!

Also getting a lot of "late picture skipped" messages!

Any help would be great.. on a powerbook g4 w/768 (or something like that) RAM, OSX 10.4.2

We have seen this issue as well, but we cannot really find what is causing it.
