2.0.5 audio distortion

Hi,
lately i've noticed some audio distortion on vlc 2.0.5 for osx 10.8
The volume is lower than 100% but I still hear some distortion while playing music.
What can I try to fix that? is it a bug?
Vlc is my favourite audio player
