VLC will not launch

I regrettably selected 'run as daemon' in VLC preferences, half-thinking that it would make VLC run in the menu bar like on Ubuntu. But clearly I was wrong and now VLC won't launch. I just want to revert it to non-daemon mode, how do I do this? I tried reinstalling VLC but that didn't work.

You could go so far as to deleting your VLC preferences. You can do it through the script in the Goodies folder of the VLC dmg.

I tried doing that and I was told 'OSStatus error 100030.' I am on Mountain Lion.

Never mind - I figured it out myself, I went into Show Package Contents, located the AppleScript file and manually run it and it worked like a charm. But thanks for the quick reply!

The Preferences Reset script isn't GateKeeper save in VLC 2.0.3. This will be fixed in the version. Somehow, we forgot to do that...

I am using OS X 10.4.11 when installing VLC 2.0.3. I placed it in the Applications folder I click on it but it won't start. I also deleted the preferences from Library. What could the problem be?

VLC 2.0.3 requires OS X 10.5 or later.

You need to upgrade the OS or you're stuck with VLC 0.9.10.
