Blackmagic Design video card support ?

Hello there,
I saw here that some Linux and Windows users do have BlackMagic Design video cards support with VLC 2, is it possible on Mac OS X (Lion here) too ?
I own an Intensity Pro, and i would love to be able to play any videos through its HDMI port on a real HD screen (with sound).
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

No, it is not possible yet. for lack of hardware.

Thanks Jean-Baptiste.
Do you mean a lack of hardware on the Mac side, or on the video card side ?

Just out of curiosity, but do any other applications support this? I am thinking Quicktime Player and MPlayer, as examples. Any open source applications supporting this could make for useful reference.

Did you manage to check with other other applications, such as MPlayer? At this point it looks like explicit support needs be added, which will probably make the development a little harder without access to the hardware.
Edit: just seen there are some SDKs for the cards:
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/sdks . The developers would still need access to a card to test any stuff.

I think i've just understand the answer of Jean-Baptiste above, he has just no BMD video card hardware to check it out
. Well, that makes sense, and unfortunately i'm no coder myself so i can't help here...
I tried with MplayerX and QTPlayer, but it's not available either (at least concerning outputing video, inputs are available in QT).
Too bad, the Intensity Pro is quite cheap in its league, and works very well with the previously mentionned softwares
.

The code on Linux should be similar to the one for Mac. It just needs someone with time, a Mac and a BMD card to recompile the linux module for the Mac.

The Mac team consists of more or less of 2 people at this point and both of us lack the equipment (and I fear also the time) to implement and test this, so I fear that this feature set won't be supported on the Mac in reasonable time unless you contract someone to do it (or to sponsor a bounty on our soonish announced bounty program).
Sorry about this negative response.

I think this should be done by the BlackMagic Design dev team, in a "standard" OS X way so it can be used by any software, just like any audio interface with CoreAudio.
I remember Squared5 managed to develop a driver for the old Miro DC30+ videocard, so that it could be used by any "QT aware" software, it was just perfect and worked beautifully ! I missed these times
.
The same type of approach seems to be the best way IMHO, so each video player dev does not have to reinvent the wheel each time.
I'll contact BMD and let you know their point of view.
PS : we could also offer to the VLC dev team an Intensity Pro (cheap), but i think it's finally not the best approach.

If someone where to borrow a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor to one of the 2 mac developers (or offer to test and fix it in exchange for some help on finding his way around the VLC source code and build system),
would that offer be accepted?
