Where do I find a message log? Nothing very obvious appears.

Further experimentation reveals that not every clip is affected. However clips on the same camera taken within a few minutes of each other may display the problem or may not. The only possible factor might be whether the OIS system was actively doing anything at the time. Shots taken on a tripod seem less likely to exhibit the phenomenon, even if there is movement in the frame, or the frame is panned slowly. I have found several clips where the camera is locked and the image is still e.g. a landscape, and no distortion artefacts are visible.

I am having serious problems - The last version of VLC always made some horizontal movement in movies jerk and judder but not to the point where it made watching movies not worthwhile, but in this new version ANY and ALL movement, be it of characters, object of even camera movements, causes a significant and distracting jump in the image. I've tried it with MKV avi and various other movie files an it's the same across the board. It's so bad that I am desperately hoping i can find the installer file for the previous version of VLC and reinstall that version instead.

I know that VLC is freeware and that a lot of work goes into it, but I hoped that for Mac users, there would be some improvement in 2.0 - in fact it's much much worse. If anyone has an install file for the previous version, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Yes on my system (latest Mac Pro) it is completely unusable, which is a great shame, given the huge amount of voluntary work that has gone into it.

The new VLC 2.0.1 has solved the pixellation problem. However when reading AVCHD files on my G-Tech Speed Q 12 TB Raid 5 array (eSATA connection) everything runs smoothly, indeed perfectly, for a good while and then suddenly the whole computer freezes - no controls work and the only thing to do is switch it off at the main button. The Mac-Pro will then not reboot until the G-Tech has been disconnected. I haven't yet worked out whether this is a VLC problem or a G-Tech one. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I've reverted to VLC v 1.1.12 because the stuttering remains on my Mac (MacBook Pro 17 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB, 1TB/600GB free, OS X 10.7.4) after updating to v 2.0.3 and now the audio has started to momentarily stutter every few minutes as well.

I've watched two video files of an hour or so each since reverting without any problems - pity as there are other issues with v 1.1.12 - but at the end of the day, it's the video/audio quality which counts.

A new build of 2.0.3 for Mac will be out to fix this issue.

We will replace the 2.0.3 builds on our website later today. If you like, you can download the build in advance here.

I'm not sure if this was a reply to my post or not but it doesn't seem to have fixed the stuttering audio/video for me, I'm afraid.

:(

I downloaded it from the link in Felix Paul Kuehne's post.

I just downloaded from the VideoLAN main site and it was identical in every respect; version, modification date, file size (to the byte).

Okay guys, who are still experiencing issues.

Which kind of Mac do you use? configuration? what kind of media? full HD on a G4?

Additionally, really important: analog or digital/optical audio output?

Ok, but this doesn't answer the most important part of my question. Do you use optical or analog audio output?

I'm using a MacBook Pro 17" OS X 10.7.4 with 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD with 650GB free.

I get the problem with all video files but I mainly watch .avi and .mkv - from 1080p/720p down to 512 x 288px. I am using the MacBook Pro's built in speakers.

The problem started for me with VLC v 2.0.0. It doesn't happen with v 1.1.12, so I use that. It doesn't happen with any version of QT or any other video or audio platform.

I'm not sure if I am experiencing the same problem as other people but I get momentary skips of about half a second in audio and/or video every few minutes. I often have to rewind to listen to dialogue again so I know it isn't the video file.

Not sure. I use the mini display port to an Apple LED monitor and output sound to the monitor's speakers. Hope that tells you what you need to know.

Exact same problem here on MacBook Pro 13" latest OSX to date, i7@8GB ram & 500GB HDD
Problem occurs when playing simple MP3 files, and other media too. Started with v2 of VLC (earlier version worked fine). No problem with QuickTime or iTunes.
Very annoying, hope it gets fixed soon. Thanks !
