VLC 0.9.2 extremely choppy video compared to 0.8.6i

Well I've just treated myself to a new MacBook (one of the funky silver ones). 2.4 gig Core 2 Duo processor, 4 gig of memory.

Didn't even attempt to use any of the 0.9.x VLCs, as people still seem to have problems, I just installed 0.8.6i. And even that doesn't work properly either on the new machine. It works fine on divx .avis - but dies on its arse on a 720p mkv (which worked fine on my old white, less powerful MacBook running Tiger). Maybe it's the new NVidea graphics subsystem, maybe it's Leo. Don't know, don't care, can't be bothered with it any more. Sorry guys. MPlayer Extended has just found its way into my task bar.

just to confirm there is a huge regression with 0.9 versions
currently using Version 0.9.8 Grishenko (Intel) on a MacBook 2Ghz with 2 Go ram... A simple mpeg4/mp3 avi freezes video for a few seconds... like every minute.
Furthermore "Media Informations" (command-I) is not working anymore (no info at all)!
Working great with same video on 0.8.6i (and with other players...), so sad having to downgrade...

I think this is a huge problem for vlc, since new comers will certainly go right to an other player...
Hope you guys are taking this seriously.
If you need more informations about those bugs, I'm here to help...

By the way, thanks a lot for the work done, before 0.9, quite impressive

Just another note that the 0.9 series is problematic. Like others I've experienced ALOT of video freezes (with sound going) on that takes up to 10 seconds to unfreeze with all versions of 0.9 that I've tried. Reverted back to 0.8.6i and all is fine again. This is on an intel 2.0Ghz Mac Mini.
