Thanks.
Since then I've dumped that distro, erased the HDD (my data is on a separate HDD), reinstalled Win10, and installed another distro. Three times!
I'm now on Ubuntu 19.10 in dual boot mode and VLC worked perfectly from first go re showing all my network UPnP devices.
Why so many distros? On one VLC refused to work correctly. On the second Samba refused to work properly so I could share a folder. 24 hours ago that distro did not give me the option to change to a static IP address (the GUI did not show me what each field needed). Now on Ubuntu 19.10 Pulseaudio Equalizer is refusing to work!
If anyone who knows of a distro that has all this work first time??
- easy change to static IP address mode
- VLC
- Pulseaudio Equalizer
- Samba shared folder
I'm a relative newbie, but I've tried Linux on and off every 18 months these past 10 years (and given up each time!)
Why does Linux have to be so hard??
