I try to use VLC but i can't, because i have always this message and I can't find a solution.Someone could explain me ?

Can you explain what kind of Mac you have and what kind of file you
are trying to play?

VLC 0.8.6a

Using VLC, I was able to play this sample WMV video I found using google.

It had some video problems but I could not recreate the
error message you list: access_file: seeking too far

There are many WMV files I cannot play,
so mostly I avoid them.


The developer of WMV has chosen to keep the format details secret.

As you can imagine, that makes it very difficult to write a decoder.


Your file is most likely encoded with a WMV codec
that is not (yet) understood by VLC's decoder software.

It could also be encrypted.

olben: There really was all infomation needed in the previeous post.
There is no seperate "codec" for vlc to support all .wmv files because vlc does not rely on external codecs at all. You may also want to try using the commercial Flip4Mac software for Quicktime. It may in some cases play .wmv files better than vlc (but i don't know).
