Playing .TS with H.264 Codec on PPC is a nightmare!!!

Postby bendermac » 02 Nov 2006 01:13

seriously, vlc fails for that matter totally and i have no idea why it shouldn't be working. i have a g5 dual 2.5ghz and i can play h.264 @ 65mbps flawless in quicktime. but playing a h.264 files within a .ts file is a whole different story.

is there a way to accelerate vlc for such playback or does the vlc developer team need work on that?

btw, i just the current final release of 0.8.5 and the latest nightly for version 0.9.0.

It doesn't work, because the codec of VLC is not the same codec of QuickTime. It's far more advanced, but also far less optimized. If you want to make it faster learn ASM and altivec and please help the people from the wonderful project called FFMPEG that make all this stuff for free.
Don't use PMs for support questions.
