movies don't play properly

Postby kitsunejenna » 27 Aug 2006 01:12

when I try to play a movie, the sound always comes before the picture

I always get this message:
ffmpeg: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

has anyone else gotten this problem?
I usually run .avi files, does that have anything to do with it?

Sorry, but my crystal ball is broken!

So you might need to provide some more information:
* Which video codec, bitrate and resolution?
* Which multimedia container (AVI, MKV, MP4, MPEG, ...)?
* Computer specifications?
* Tried a nightly trunk?

I have this very same problem, the reason clearly being trying to run VLC on a 300mhz G3.

Probably your computer is just too old for the complex compressions used today.
