Person who knows zilcho:what files does VLC OSX play?

Postby K9 » 07 Aug 2006 15:28

I'm computer illiterate but need to know which files can be opened on VLC. My VLC is from August????? last year. I don't know if that makes any difference.
 About all I know is that my Doctor Who files will open on it, and that's all that has mattered till now. I know the 2006 Windows Media Player will play them as well, as to what 'they' are I have no idea.
I know that it does a lot of codecs but  don't know file types.
Can you help me?

Now to answer you question follow this link it tells you everything supported by VLC:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

Video codecs are about a fourth of the way down and Audio codecs are about 3/4'ths the way down. Hope this helps you.

Thank you!
 was that obvious?
and do you know why VLC pixelifies randomly in the second ep of Rememberance of the Daleks? It's exactly the same type as all my other Sylvester McCoy eps (avi) (only plays on VLC) and the only other thing I have which pixelifies is a ram file which does it anyway on my Window Media Player.
Here's probably not the place for asking that, I guess, but the guy at school is always running here there and everywhere :x and is impossible to find. :?

Depends if its a Xvid could be bad encoding of the video. DVD could be bad encoding again(rare however possible), scratches on the DVD or your processor can't keep up(highly doubtful if its pixelating). It all could be bad encodings of the video part of the files but if you suspect not to be the files themselves you could post an error log, what version VLC you are using, system, OS, ect. Also remember VLC is still under development you may still run into errors and what not viewing some types of formats. As for your last question, I don't quite understand what you mean/or looking for could you rephase it and I might be able to help.
