I'm trying to watch .avi files with Korean subtitles (.smi). The Korean characters don't show. Instead, there are just a bunch of illegible symbols.
How do I get VLC to display korean characters in the subtitles? Same error with all my files.
Should try1. Open Preferences and enable the Advanced mode (lower left).
2. Video > Subtitles/OSD > Text renderer | Font : /System/Library/Fonts/AppleGothic.dfont
3. Input/Codecs | Subtitles track : 0 (don't confuse with Subtitles track ID)
4. Input/Codecs > Other Codecs > Subtitles | Subtitles text encoding : EUC-KR
Try that and see how that works out.
