WMV3 not readable with mac

Postby herr_seele » 22 May 2006 19:13

I'm running Mac OSX version 10.4.6

although indicated that VLC 0.8.5 can read WMV3 files, it isn't working on my mac.

i get this message:
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

can anybody help me please?

thx in advance

Where is it "indicated" that VLC can play wmv3 files in OS X? It cannot.

Dowload the Flip4Mac WMV3 QuickTime plugin, and play it in QuickTime. And search the damn forums before you ask a question that's been answered dozens of times before.

Almost makes me wonder why the answer to this question isn't stickied on top of the forum.

I thought I had heard VLC was going to try to integrate Flip4Mac so it could play WMV3. Is that actually being worked on?

I see in several posts that some are complaining about people asking the same question. I must agree with other posts that what you deem to be the "true solution" should be weighted so that it floats to the top of a search query looking for wmv3. I appreciate those who have responded to posts and help others but I must say, on this topic at least, that this is one of the angriest posting environments that I have been in recently. I want to say again that I appreciate forums and the answers that i can find.

Thanks,
Matt P.

This forum is usually really friendly and polite, but answering the same question multiple times a week for years is quite annoying and therefore leads to some aggression against users who fail to use the Search feature.
