MacOS Version ignores Reduce Motion

Postby MarjaE2 » 13 Aug 2024 19:38

I can watch some types of video, but can't handle smooth resizing, smooth scrolling, parallax, zooming, etc.; I get severe motion sickness and migraines. I tried VLC on MacOS Sonoma with Reduce Motion turned on, as well as on Fedora with Cinnamon with Effects turned off.

On MacOS, if I try to switch the video from 1x to 2x resolution, it animates an expanding window.

On Fedora, it immediately switches to the larger window.

I haven't tested without the above accessibility settings, but I think the MacOS version with Reduce Motion should match the Cinnamon version without Effects.

I tried to file a bug report, but I can't handle cell phone screens, so I haven't been able to get through the 2FA.

You are right, we do not support this option so far. I just added a feature request for VLC 4: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues/28739
