Logo Overlay does not work and is forgotten

Eventually I want to do this on my Apple TV, but now I'm testing it on my Mac. I sometimes have friends over for watching movies and I want to add the MST3K image on the bottom of the screen:


I used Command-E to get the effects window:


I picked an image and set the transparency level. I clicked on "Add Logo," used Custom000 for the profile and clicked to select "Apply Profile at Next Launch." I quit, then relaunched and the logo wasn't there. I checked and the info had not been saved. I tried again and it saved the data, but the logo image still does not show up over the video.

What am I missing here? I want to be able to display this logo on some videos and it looks like I just select the profile with it to get it to show up, but it's not showing up at all.

I've gone through the Wiki and found this tutorial (https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@ted7/ho ... 20in%20VLC.) and even video - and yet I cannot make it work on a Mac.

I'd like to know more on this. I'd love to get it to work, but I also want to know if it only works when doing a video conversion or if I can add a logo to a video as I'm playing it on a TV with VLC.
