Fixed Window Size

Postby cbc1973 » 26 Mar 2022 14:49

Same thing as this thread: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=159380
But there is not a "Menu Tools" or a "Tools" option on the mac version of VLC. The automatic window size is very frustrating and I keep finding the same instructions posted online for windows. Is there a IOS solution?

Thanks

On the Mac, this option exists, but it's very well hidden. I'll make it more visible in the next major update.

Go to VLC -> Preferences -> Show All -> Video and scroll down on the right until you see "Automatic video scaling". Uncheck the option, Save and restart VLC.

It doesn't work. The window still resizes every time I open a video file. I just want it to open in a smaller window and remember that, not a window that takes the whole screen. There is such option on the Windows version, but on the Mac it is missing. Very frustrating. Please help. :(((

This also didnt work for me, however I think I stumbled on to the solution... (by pure luck lol)

In addition to the steps provided by @fkuehne , uncheck the box "Resize interface to the native video size".

This box can be found:
VLC -> Preferences -> Show All -> Interface -> Main Interface -> Macosx -> then scroll down to the behavior section and uncheck the "Resize interface to the native video size."

Save and close VLC.

When I reopened it, and to my surprise, it now remembers both the size of the window when I closed it and the location of the window as well. Thanks.
