VLC stops ripping after blu-ray menu

I am a new VLC user running 3.0.18. When I attempt to rip a Blu-ray to disc using the Convert/Stream feature, it stops immediately after ripping the blu-ray menu. This started happening immediately after installing java runtime version 1.8.0_351-b10. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to get VLC to rip the entire movie?
