Video Doesn't Open - Double-Click

Using Mac Mini, M1 Chip, Monterey 12.6, Version 3.0.17.3 Vetinari (Apple Silicon). Without making any changes to the system, VLC no longer opens a video when I double-click on it from a Finder folder.

This just started happening.

If I close VLC completely, then the next video I click on will open, but not others after that until I again quit VLC.

The videos do, however, show up on the Playlist, and I can open the video from the Playlist.

Is this a VLC or Finder issue...and is there a correction I can make?
