Turn off pause when airpods pro / airpods max are removed from head?

Postby joeblough » 19 Jul 2022 04:00

is there a way to have VLC ignore when headphones are removed? i use VLC to monitor security cameras and every time i take off my airpods max, the video/audio pauses... but i don't want that behavior.

i looked around thru the preferences and couldn't find anything. i'm a little worried this might be beyond VLC's control as it seems to have registered itself with the OS as an audio source - i see VLC in the "now playing" menu bar icon.

thanks for any ideas.

Try disabling "Control playback with media keys" in settings, which implements the system integration you describe as an audio source. This should stop the behaviour.

thanks. that worked - i had toggled it before posting, but it looks like i had to restart VLC to make it take effect. that makes sense though, probably doesn't deregister with the OS until it is time to quit.
