Media Library question

Hi Newbie question - I have just switched to VLC media player and have copied my 5000 FLAC music files to Media Library, from a USB. VLC seems to want to refer to the USB as the location of the library. Is it possible to create a media library on my laptop HD and edit it as required?

Secondly I don't seem to be able to edit the song metadata in the Music Library - is that possible.
