Re: VLC to move to Apple Silicon Code?

Please can I kindly request some clarification.

I use VLC player on my MAC MINI (M1).
My Mac is connected to a 4k Monitor via HDMI.

I set the Mac Display settings to 1080p Scale, otherwise the fonts and menus are too small.

My Question is if I play 4K Videos via VLC are these playing in 1080p or 4K.
On VLC Player [Preferences / Video / Fullscreen settings] the screen resolution shows 1080 when i scale to 1080. See screen shot below.

However when i change Mac Display settings to Default for display instead of Scaled then this shows 3840x1260.

So am concerned that only watching 1080p content which the TV is upscaling instead of 4k. Obviously I could leave Display in default but the menus are unreadable as too small.
If you TV is set to 4K and the Mac is set to properly use the full resolution of the TV, VLC will properly use it. When macOS does user interface scaling, it does not affect the actual video output of VLC.

Is it possible to create a VLC Watched Folder on Mac OS?

So that any file changes in the folder is reflected on VLC.

Thank you.

I would be surprised if it hasn’t been asked for. What do you think?

I have encountered a major bug/issue using VLC on Mac M1 Mini silicon.
Using the correct VLC Mac OS Silicon software updated as of 18 Feb, 2020.

HARDWARE DECODING option in VLC Preferences:
- If I turn this ON for many local mp4/mov videos there is audio sync issues for the first 2-3 minutes.
- If I turn this OFF it fixes the audio sync issue, but there is about 2 seconds of horrible video pixelisation at the star of every video.

Please help?

I have reinstalled VLC many times and reset all settings, but this issue doesn’t get solved.
Strangely when i delete VLC and Reinstall it, all the settings are remembered. Meaning it doesn’t uninstall/delete properly. Maybe if i can delete it totally and reinstall it some how this might fix it, but how do you totally delete on Mac. All i do is delete App in recycle bin.
