Bluetooth headphone's play/pause button can't control VLC on MAC OS

Hello
I have Bose quitecomfort 35 II headphone, and VLC is my default player on MAC OS Monterey.
The play/pause button on the headphone cannot control VLC.
Is there a way around this?
I found old solutions on the internet, but they don't seem to work anymore.
