How to start a video from finder without opening playlist?

This is possible in windows but not mac afaik, so annoying, I have to close the playlist window everytime I open a video from finder, can't there be an option for playlist to be on/off, would be much appreciated.

I can leave it on all the time, as a sort of workaround, but I often forget and close the program when I stop watching the video, then the dreaded playlist comes back.

Can you clarify what the actual issue is? Do you mean when you have VLC configured to have the video and playlist in different windows? Whats the reason you use that if you dont care for the playlist anyway?
