Visualizations window closes and reopens with every track

I'm using VLC 3.0.11.1 Vetinari on macOS Catalina 10.15.7.

I've loaded an M3U playlist of various music files (mostly FLAC format) into VLC, and have enabled Visualizations (Audio->Visualizations).

I've tried several different visualizations (Spectrum, VU meter, Goom) and have noticed they all have a similar behavior: when the end of a track is reached, and the next track begins, the visualization window disappears, the playlist is briefly visible, then the visualization window is redrawn.

This behavior is visually disruptive. I'd prefer the visualization to just flow from one song into the next and not be redrawn between tracks.

Does anyone know of a solution? (Splitting the playlist and video window doesn't solve the problem, I have already tried that.)

I'm just registering to indicate that this occurs for me, too.

Currently using VLC 3.0.0-git Vetinari, done the same things as @Alderem.

(sorry if there's a first post rule, lemme know and i'll go do that if necessary!)
