Newby question

So Im trying to stream a live webcam over VLC.

I have open capture device and select the webcam.
it shows on the playlist as something like qtcapture://CDFER-FKLLKSDGJ-DLFSKJLKJDF . ETC....
it shows my video in the preview window.

I then want to stream this via Http

So i go to streaming / transcode wizzard
stream to nework
next
I select the capture in the playlist the qtcapture://LKJFOISU etc..
next and
select http
I have tried several selection here on Transcode and not transcoding.
and most all formats.
lets say no transcode and I dont have the choice for mp4 so I select mp1
then just next next next.
what is the MRL on this page for?
one page says to get the stream you go to http://myip:8080 . ie http://10.247.1.2:8080

I have tried to open this in a browser

one time I got a page that said I had not set the Lau password yet. so I did that

Then after that it keeps giving me a zero byte text file download, and nothing else.

I have also tried to open the stream in VLC with no luck, errors that the sever is not responding and or encoder not starting.

is this possible? I can't seem to find much info on the mac version.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

also all this is from the same machine or another machine on the same network using local Ip's

Hi,
I encountered the same issues,
but apparently it's been 4 years and no one cares ^^.
i try to stream a video (with VLC and http) and watch it thru a browser (http://CasterIP:8080), the 2 PC are on the same Network.
but the browser doesn't display the video, he only download it...
I've searched a lot in this forum but found nothing except questions with no answer.
