scene filter not working

Postby Blasted95 » 11 Nov 2018 15:49

Hi--

Wondering if anyone has resolved this issue. I'm trying to isolate single video frames and send them to a folder. I've found instructions on how to do this by going to
Preferences, Video, hit Show All, Video filters (drop-down arrow), Scene filter, filling in path, image type & recording ratio etc, hitting save, then playing the video. However it does not capture any frames or seem to do anything. Am I missing a step?

Version 3.0.4 on Mac OS Sierra

thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. It was working fine up until the last update to 3.0.4 (also in Mac Sierra). Now nothing. File path is the same, scene filter is ticked etc. Nothing happens! Hardware decoding box is unticked. Any thoughts?

Hate to necro this, but this is also happening to me. I reset all my prefs and tried again, but still no images.

Same problem. Trying to extract single frames / thumbnails / screen captures from VLC (mp4 video file) using the scene filter.

Disabled Hardware decoding. Made sure the output path is correct. Made sure that the filter checkbox is enabled.

Mac OS Catalina 10.15.2

VLC:
Version 3.0.8 Vetinari (Intel 64bit)

Nothing works ! Extremely frustrating.

No wonder free and opensource software gets a bad repuation !

Do you follow some specific instructions you have somewhere, so we can try to reproduce?

Hi,

Same here, this feature does not work on my laptop (Catalina 10.15.3). If I remember well, just before I updated to Catalina I managed to make it work but now that damn thing doesn't want to work.

Followed instructions to a T.
How do we report a bug?

VLC 3.0.11
Windows 10 64 bit Woops just googled and landed here. Realized now it is the Mac OS section - oh well. (EDIT)

As a workaround, does it work if you pass avcodec-hw=vaapi in addition?

I got it to work yesterday, but it's not working today.
I am trying to trigger it using the Preferences/All/Video/Filters/scene filter checkbox.
I am using WIndows 10, and VLC 3.0.14

thanks,
DarkStarHarry

For the record, I used this website as a guide to take interval screenshots using the scene filter.
