VLC 3.0.12 Navigation thru UPnP source bit of a pain

Postby tamh » 16 Apr 2021 04:13

So, I got a macOS machine and thus I wanted to access the contents in my Raspberry Pi running Kodi via UPnP.

On Windows and Linux, it just works great with VLC, allowing me to double click in the list to open up folders in the source and easily browse to the location and file I want to see or listen to.

However, on VLC for macOS, whenever I double click an entry in the UPnP list, it automatically navigates (even recursively following folders) to the first playable item (which for the initial source entry usually is a song in the Music Library) and plays it.
Next, if I want to see something from the Video Library, and I double click on it, it automatically goes to the first playable item inside of it (usually the first video of the first alphabetically ordered folder, again recursively following folders), which now I have to stop to be able to continue browsing, and the behavior continues until I finally find the folder and item I want to watch.

I have browsed the Preferences dialog, even the complete "Show All" preferences dialog and I haven't seen anything that could prevent this behavior from happening.

Any clues on how to prevent this?
