Media/Audio information Question

Postby waterandwax » 16 Sep 2020 01:08

Hello,

I'm wondering about the audio information that I'm seeing in the media information window. If I open an H.264 with AAC audio, it's telling me that it has a bit rate of 32 instead of giving a compression rate, like 320kbps for example. AAC isn't supposed to have a bit rate so I'm just wondering why it's showing one and why there's no info on the compression rate?

Thanks!

VLC does not display the compression rate (as in xx kB/s) but the number of bits per sample it uses to describe the decoded audio which usually is 32. In statistics, you can see the stream bitrate but this will cover both audio and video.
