Open Network shows link only for a second

I want to download some of my own youtube videos. When I copy the youtube share link and go to VLC > open Media > URL (paste) > Open then the youtube video name appears back in the (is it Media Library? Playlist?) window for a second then it's gone. I'm on a Macbook Pro 2017 2.3 GHz Dual Core Intel Core i5 running OS 10.15.3, running VLC 3.0.8 Vetinari (Intel 64bit) I uninstalled, downloaded VLC again and reinstalled and tried a few different links and nothing worked. All links after opening would appear for a second then be gone.

I'm having this problem as well and hope to see a solution posted. I also have a MacBook Pro 2017 with OS 10.15.3 running the latest version of VLC.

They are current problems with youtube playback because youtube changed something on their website. This should be fixed with the next version.

I'm running version 3.0.11.1 and still having this problem with some (but not all) youtube videos. Is the fix meant to be out already, or are we still waiting on it?

YouTube is constantly changing their website notably to break software like hours. So while the fixes from march are long delivered to all of VLC users, we need to fix other things this fall to keep things working and indeed there is no release for the latest changes yet.
