VLC freezes or loses audio on MacOS Sierra

Please update to the official VLC 3.0.11 which also includes this fix.

Just updated to 3.0.11 and got new issue... The video cannot be played anymore when I paused and resumed, then when I tried to quit the VLC, the app became not responsive.

I can confirm that the problem (audio freezing + beach ball on quit) has returned with VLC version 3.0.11. I'm returning to using this version: https://stdout.space/VLC_3.0.10-51-g0752c9dec9.app.zip

No, do not do that. Stay at 3.0.11. The linked version cannot be any better than 3.0.11 with respect to audio issues.

I am reading this. Almost a year since that thread has been created. SHould I understand that the problem has never been resolved yet now in February 2021 ?

I am on Catalina.

I do not expect Apple to solve this - as they can't even solve a broken Quick Time... and don't care about third party apps.

I love VLC, but since a while, I do experience both audio dropping, or video freeze on playback.

Once again, the problem was fixed in VLC version 3.0.12
