Trouble with .m3u8 file

Postby nosilla » 12 Jun 2020 08:00

Hi there!
I am very new to VLC and very self/internet taught when it comes to computers so please forgive me if I don't get all the lingo correct.

I have been trying to download a movie from the internet onto my computer (mac). I have been able to get the url and it is a index.m3u8.

I was able to get it onto VLC via 'Network' and then copying and pasting the url. From there I checked the 'stream output' box and clicked settings where I named the file and selected that it should be output to my desktop. I opened the file and it started to download but this is where I ran into trouble. The download would start and go for awhile then it would suddenly stop and instead of the full hour long video only about 15 minutes of it would be exported.

I can not for the life of me figure out how to fix this so that I can download the full movie! Any help and suggestions would be appreciated!

(Here is a link to the tutorial I was following that lead me to the above steps: https://upminded.net/how-to-download-m3u8-video-mac/)
