How can I record audio from Mac?

I have been using Soundflower, LadioCast and Quicktime Player to record audio that come from Mac. No microphone, no external input, but anything that comes out of Mac.
It works great, except I have to export out the audio in a desired format. What I really want is real-time encoding and compressing as I record audio.

After intensive googling, it seems that it is possible with Windows VLC. Can I do the same with Mac?
VLC gives me an error "No input device found" when I set Audio input to Soundflower (2ch) under "Open Capture Device."

Maybe it is not possible with Mac version of VLC?
