VLC not playing .ts file

I have this problem where VLC won't play a .ts file, and I'm not sure what's going on. I click to open, it gets stuck on the playlist page and never plays any audio or video. No error messages appear, it just never plays anything.

On QT I can have video, but audio doesn't work and the audio track appears empty. After searching around I figured it might be a codec problem, but I never had those on VLC. The file is 12gb, so it might have something to do with that? I'm running everything on a MBP i5 late 2011 OSX 10.13, not sure if that makes any difference.

Try remuxing with TSMuxer.
