Any suggestions or information would be highly appreciated.
Tried coverting .mov to mp4. Got m4v file and no sound. Video looks good in the output file.
Using MacPro with Catalina.
Just downloaded vlc from https://get.videolan.org/vlc/3.0.8/macosx/vlc-3.0.8.dmg and installed on Catalina.
Used convert/stream to open a .mov file.
Selected Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4) Profile
Picked a destination where the file should be saved.
Clicked save
Conversion yielded a .m4v file, instead of mp4.
The sound in the mov file was dropped. No sound at all in the m4v file.
Used media information window to examine the .mov file and m4v file- no information appeared at all.

* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

I’m using the following settings for the Conversion:
Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)
Customize: = Encapsulation - MP4/MOV, Video codec - Keep original video track - checked, Audio codec - Keep original audio track.
