UPNP disabled on v2.2.8 and 3.0.2/3.0.3

Postby DownUnder » 03 Jul 2018 01:14

Hi have been reading the posts about UPNP issues.

My issue is a little different.

until a few days ago I could see my Panasonic BD recorder fine and could, with a little patience play videos, etc. from the UPNP list.

However now when I launch vlc, the UPNP option shows as "Enable" when I option click. The other Network streams are all enabled and show "Disable".

So I select "Enable" for UPNP and nothing happens. I right click again and it still shows "Enable".

I am running on a Mac mini (late 2012) with 4 GB RAM and an i5 processor on 10.13.5 High Sierra.

Any suggestions why UPNP is now showing as disabled by default and how to enable it?

Thanks,

Ian Law

I have the same problem with VLC 3.0.6 with the enable option and rest preferences did not help. I am using MacBook Air 2018 macOS 10.14.4. I am unable to see the UPnP server, I have 2, Minimserver and Asset, both are seen by my Apple TV. I had to enter a user name and password for the VLC app on Apple TV but I don't see anywhere to do this on the Mac VLC app.

I have the same exact problem with the newest macbook pro. Resetting preferences and even reinstalling have not changed this. It will not allow us to enable. I read a post where someone said after looking at wireshark it looked like it wasnt searching on the right interface...

Nothing else approaches VLC and I really would like to get this to work and am glad to help troubleshoot if anyone has any suggestions.

This will be fixed in 3.0.7. We finally found a fix for this embarrassing issue.

I don't know why, but I changed IPv6 settings from "Off" to "Link-local only" and successfully enabled UPnP... (System Preferences->Network->Advanced-TCP/IP tab->IPv6)

That setting did not fix it for me. However the new version 3.0.7 does fix it.
