Poor UPnP Universal Plug'n'Play behavior on Mac version

When opening UPnP servers on Windows VLC, you can navigate folders, then double-click to play a video.

On Mac VLC, as soon as you open a UPnP server or any folder within it, the first video automatically plays no matter what. I've found no way to turn this off and it's incredibly annoying.
