VLC quitting repeatedly

After the last update of 3.0.3, VLC repeatedly quits unexpectedly at the start of playing a video file (at random), irrespective of the extension the file carries. It also asks to “Send report”, which I always do, but in vain.

what is your mac's gpu?

have you tried one of the latest 3.0.4 nightlies?

did you try disabling hardware acceleration (preferences -> input/codecs)?

No, I haven’t tried doing any of these...
If the GPU is the same as the graphics then its Intel Iris 1536 MB.

Now, I also have unticked Hardware decoding in input/codec. Still its not playing and crashing instead.

Also, what is to be done using the nightly builds? Are they safe to download and which one to download?

I tried https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/ma ... 02-dev.dmg this nightly build and it did not work after installation (showing the same problem).
Next, I downloaded this, https://nightlies.videolan.org/build/ma ... 01.tar.bz2
It gives me a 5 folders of whom I don’t know where to place or how to use....

I also noticed that the video file that was quitting, stopped doing so when i deleted the associated subtitles file (.srt).
