VLC 3.0 "Show video within the main window"

Where is the option for "Show video within the main window"? I want to turn this OFF.

I want the video in a separate window all of the time.

Check simple preferences, in the Video section. Make sure to restart VLC after changing the setting.

Sorry I must have been blind or something, or maybe comparing it to v2 where the option was under Interface. Thanks for your help.

Apparently I, too, am blind because I still cannot find this optioin, either in 'Interface' where it always used to be nor in 'Video' where this reply claims it is. I'm using VLC 3.0.4 on Windows 10

Why is this option, which so many people apparently want to turn off, made so purposely impossible to find?

Sorry, but this is a thread about the Mac user interface. This option may not exist on Windows. If I remember correctly, you can select different UI styles on Windows, but there is no direct counterpart to this option.

On Linux and Windows, with the standard Qt5 interface (running VLC version 3.0.4), I have found this option in advanced preferences, under Video -> Embedded video. It is also in the simple settings, under Interface -> Integrate video in interface.
