Size of media controls in fullscreen changed size randomly

The media controls in full screen are about twice as big as they used to be. Yesterday they were the normal size, but today when I started watching a video the controls are much larger. This happened once before and I had to delete the VLC prefs to fix the issue. I have only seen this issue on 3.0.0.

Is there some setting in the preferences or keyboard shortcut causing this?
