Capturing and recording video while playing

Postby tuanomsok » 06 Jan 2018 18:06

macOS 10.13.2
VLC 2.2.8

Can VLC be used to capture a portion of a video that is playing in VLC?

Check out the "Record" menu item in the Playback main menu.

Hi

Go to the View tab and check Advanced controls... Like magic you will get four additional buttons at the bottom of your player, one of which will be the record button.

While you are playing a video just hit record to start and hit it again to stop recording. You could also stop the recording by hitting the Stop button.

Your resulting video file, by default, should end up in your video folder under Windows Libraries (that's always a popular question... Where did it go?).

On playing a video you can pause and advance frame by frame (the fourth button on the additional controls).

:)
