Ongoing memory leak issue

Postby kevinofdawoods » 16 Oct 2017 21:24

I've been using VLC for 24/7 playback of 640x480 or 640x360 .h264 mp4s for several years, and I've alway had a memory leak issue. I've recently set up 2.2.6 on a different computer (early 2009 24" iMac, with 8GB RAM, running El Capitan), starting with default settings, and VLC is still grabbing close to 1GB of RAM every day. As long as I remember to restart it every several days, I'm okay, but it would be nice to not have to worry about that.

I've looked back at other memory complaints, and I'm not using interlace video, or HD files, and I'm not seeing much else that I can troubleshoot with. It seems unlikely that a bug like this wouldn't have been reported, so I'm thinking it's me, somehow.

Does anybody have some troubleshooting suggestions?
