SRT Files Not Working

Postby aeslis » 06 Aug 2017 09:38

For some reason, VLC is no longer showing my my .srt subtitles. The program registers that there is an .srt file and I can see it under the subtitles menu and turn on the track, but no subtitles actually appear on the screen.

I tried this on 2.3.3 and then downloaded 2.3.6, but neither show me subtitles. I also tried this with various different files to see if it was contained to a particular file, but it isn't. There's just some disconnect happening and I don't understand why.

Can anyone help?

Still looking for a solution to this problem--

First off, I meant 2.2.3 and 2.2.6 above, that was a mistake on my part.

I've tried deleting VLC entirely, I've tried running First Aid on my computer, and I've also uninstalled Flash, in case there were conflicting files. I'm wondering if perhaps there's some sort of conflicting software I've downloaded since the last time I used VLC for .srt subs (when it worked).

Deleted some games from my computer too, and upgraded to the newest version of Sierra while I was at it, since sometimes updates to the OS affect things like this, but still no go.

Help!
