Nightly 12.Dec. is very fast

Just tried the nightly mentioned above. Its very fast in starting replay the video and feels in general faster.

Even H264 playback is very very improved. It was unusable in the 0.8.4 release with powerbook 1ghz, 768mb ram, running 10.4.3 and now its nearly as playable as with the quicktime player.

Tried to play a h264 from a smb network volume and it was only a bit choppy.

Very good work indeed.

the nightly builds are build on 10.4 with gcc4
So the code is quite likely optimized a lot better. However it's 10.4 only, and therefore not useable for a release.

i couldnt believe that this improvment is only due to gcc4, its difference like day and night.

however if this just the gcc4 effect i wonder what would happen if ffmpeg would be really optimized for ppc.
