missing 2 out of 6 channels when playing with VLC, but they work when using QuickTime

Postby peval72 » 06 Apr 2017 10:13

I was having issues playing some movies multichannels downloaded from the internet, so i surfed on the Fraunhofer institute web page (https://www2.iis.fraunhofer.de/AAC/multichannel.html) where i could find some sample files playing one channel at a time for testing purpose
This is the file i used: https://www2.iis.fraunhofer.de/AAC/ChID-BLITS-EBU.mp4

If i play it with VLC, the center channel and the subwoofer channel do not sound, whereas if i open the file with QuickTime or with Elmedia, they all work
Note that i have Perian installed in my Mac, if this is relevant.

I have a new Macbook Pro retina with touch-ID and MacOS Sierra.
Anyone can help?
Many thanks!!
Paolo
